Set an expiry on store-credit rewards

Decide how long the store credit from a store-credit reward stays spendable. By default it never expires; turning on an expiry keeps long-forgotten credit from accruing as liability forever.

Steps

1. Go to Program → Ways to redeem and open a Store credit reward to Edit.
2. Turn on Expire the credit, then set Credit valid for (days).
3. Click Save to apply the change.

Tip

The deadline is enforced by Shopify itself — Charm issues the credit with an expiration date, and Shopify removes it when the date passes. Existing rewards keep their current behavior (no expiry) until you switch the toggle on, and credit that was already issued keeps the expiry it was issued with.

If a customer’s order is refunded and their reward reversed, points come back first and an already-expired credit surfaces as an explicit message in the admin — nothing is silently retried.
