Connect Mailchimp

Connect Mailchimp with an API key and pick an audience, and Charm writes each customer’s loyalty state onto their audience member as merge fields, then sends every loyalty event as a Mailchimp member event — ready to trigger a Customer Journey. Charm keeps sending the loyalty emails itself; Mailchimp gets the data.

  1. From your Shopify admin, open Charm and go to Settings → Integrations → Marketing and SMS apps.
  2. In the Marketing provider dropdown, choose Mailchimp.
  3. Paste your Mailchimp API key — create it in Mailchimp under Account → Extras → API keys — and click Connect. Charm verifies the key with Mailchimp before saving it.
  4. Pick the Mailchimp audience Charm should sync into, then click Save audience. The badge flips to Connected and syncing starts.
  • Merge fields — Charm creates five hidden merge fields in the audience and keeps them current, so you can segment on them:

    Merge tagHolds
    CHARMPTSPoints balance
    CHARMTIERVIP tier
CHARMURLLink to the customer’s loyalty page
    CHARMREFLTheir referral link
    CHARMREFCTheir referral code
  • Member events — every loyalty moment is sent as a member event you can pick as a Customer Journey trigger: charm_points_earned, charm_reward_redeemed, charm_reward_expiring, charm_points_expiring, charm_birthday_reward, charm_nameday_reward, charm_referral_completed, charm_friend_referral, charm_vip_tier_achieved, charm_vip_tier_approaching, and the three campaign events (charm_campaign_teaser, charm_campaign_launch, charm_campaign_last_chance).

  • A daily sync plus a manual one — Charm refreshes the merge fields for all members once a day so segments stay fresh between events, and you can trigger a full sync anytime from the Mailchimp card. The card shows the last run: synced, not-yet-in-Mailchimp, and error counts.
