Set different rule values and reward costs per tier

VIP tiers can adjust the whole program, not just add perks: an earning rule can award a different number of points in each tier, and a reward can cost a different number of points.

Set per-tier values on an earning rule

1. Go to Program → Earning points and open the rule.
2. Turn on Use different values for each tier.
3. Each tier shows a points field — the value members of that tier receive. Leave a field empty to inherit the rule’s base value (shown as the placeholder).
4. Click Save changes, then Save.

Per-tier values are available on name-day, pet birthday and child birthday bonuses, newsletter and SMS signup bonuses, social follows and shares, visit-a-page and custom-action rules. On the name-day, pet birthday and child birthday rules, the switch shows while the reward is Bonus points. The signup bonus deliberately has no per-tier values, because every new member starts in the entry tier. The purchase rule scales through per-tier multipliers instead.

The switch is part of editing a rule, so add the rule first. It stays greyed out until you set up VIP tiers.

Give each tier a different birthday reward

The birthday rule goes a step further: each tier can get a different kind of reward, not only a different number of points. Points for the entry tier and a free product for the top tier, for example.

1. Go to Program → Earning points and open Celebrate a birthday.
2. Turn on Give some tiers a different reward. It replaces Use different values for each tier on this rule.
3. Each tier gets one row. Leave it on Same as everyone to give that tier the rule’s own reward, or pick Bonus points, Free product, Free product from a collection, Amount off, Percentage off or Free shipping and fill in the value beside it.
4. Click Save changes, then Save.

A customer gets the reward for the tier they’re in on the day the reward is issued. See Set up a birthday bonus for the rest of the rule.

Set per-tier costs on a reward

1. Go to Program → Redeeming points and open the reward.
2. Turn on Use different point costs for each tier.
3. Fill a cost per tier; an empty field inherits the base cost.
4. Click Save changes, then Save.

Customers always pay the price they see: the widget, loyalty page, cart and checkout, POS and loyalty emails all quote the customer’s own tier price, and redemption charges exactly that number. If a limited-time reward sale is also running, the customer pays the lower of the sale price and their tier price.

Where you see the adjustments

• Each tier’s card on the Program page and the VIP tiers preview panel list the tier’s rule adjustments.
• The program summary in the sidebar breaks per-tier values into sub-bullets.
• On your storefront, each tier’s perks list its rule values too. A tier with its own birthday reward names that reward, for example a free product, instead of a points figure.

Notes

• Guests and members without an assigned tier see the base program.
• Everything here works with tiers that are configured but not yet launched, so you can prepare the matrix before enabling tiers.
