Stop gift cards and discounted items earning points

Two categories of sale that most merchants would rather not pay points on, each a single switch — no product list to maintain as your catalogue changes.

Gift cards

1. Go to Settings → Eligibility → Excluded products.
2. Turn on Don’t award points for gift cards.
3. Click Save.

Buying a gift card moves money into store credit; it isn’t a sale. With this on, the gift card purchase earns nothing, and the order the card later pays for earns points on its own — so the same money doesn’t earn twice.

Discounted items

1. In the same section, turn on Don’t award points for discounted items.
2. Click Save.

Any item sold below its compare-at price stops earning, and the rest of the order earns normally. Because Charm reads the compare-at price at the moment of the order, a sale you run next month is covered without touching this setting again.

Tip

This protects margin on markdowns while leaving full-price items untouched. If you’d rather exclude a fixed set of products or a whole sale collection instead, see exclude products from earning points.
