Let members switch plans
Members on an auto-renewing paid membership can move to another of your plans themselves, for example from Monthly to Yearly, from the Loyalty Hub in their customer account. There’s nothing to set up: the option appears as soon as you sell two or more auto-renewing plans that a member can move between.
How a member switches
Section titled “How a member switches”- In the Loyalty Hub, the member clicks Other plans on their Your membership card.
- Each plan they can move to shows Switch to and the plan’s name, for example Switch to Yearly.
- A confirmation says the new plan starts at the next renewal on that date, that nothing is charged today, and that the current plan stays active until then. The member clicks Yes, switch plan, or Keep the current plan to back out.
- The card then reads “Switching to Yearly on” the renewal date, with Undo to cancel the switch before it happens.
At the next renewal the subscription bills the new plan’s price on the new plan’s billing cycle, and the member’s perks change to the new plan’s. The renewal date itself stays the same. The floating widget shows the scheduled switch on the member’s card too; its Manage membership button leads to the Loyalty Hub, where the switch is made.
When a plan can be switched to
Section titled “When a plan can be switched to”Switch to appears only when all of these are true:
- The member’s current membership is an auto-renewing subscription and is active: not in its grace period after a failed payment, and not set to end because the member cancelled the renewal.
- No switch is already scheduled.
- The other plan is enabled, is an auto-renewing subscription with a linked product and a price, and is priced in the same currency as the member’s subscription.
Other plans, such as one-time plans, show View plan instead, which opens the plan’s product page.
