Subscription payment milestones

Subscription payment milestones reward customers for staying subscribed, not just for signing up. Every paid order that contains a subscription (selling-plan) item counts as one payment; when the customer’s payment count crosses a threshold you configured, that milestone’s reward pays out — once per customer.

How it works

  • Add the Subscription payment milestones rule under Programs → Ways to earn and configure any number of milestones (e.g. after the 3rd, 6th, and 12th payment), each with its own reward.
  • Charm counts orders, not subscription contracts — so it works with any subscription app that bills through Shopify: native Shopify subscriptions, Recharge, Appstle, Seal, Loop, Skio, and others. There is nothing to connect.
  • Counting starts when you create the rule. Payments made before that don’t count, so enabling the rule on a long-running store never triggers a surprise mass payout.
  • If an order is refunded or cancelled it stops counting, and progress self-corrects.

The rule ships with Count at most one subscription payment per calendar month switched on. With the cap, a customer with three parallel subscriptions progresses by loyalty over time — one step per month — instead of jumping three steps ahead each billing cycle. Switch it off if you’d rather count every subscription order.

Rewards

Each milestone can grant any of:

RewardBehavior
Bonus pointsPoints land on the customer’s balance
Free productGranted via a discount code for the picked product
Amount offFixed-value discount code
Percentage offPercentage discount code
Free shippingFree-shipping discount code

Discount-type rewards are issued exactly once per milestone, appear in the customer’s My discount codes, and trigger the reward email automatically. Points-mode milestones fold into the same points-earned email as the order itself.

Where it shows up

The storefront widget and account hub list the rule with the next milestone’s reward and live progress (“2 / 6 subscription payments”). Once every milestone has paid out, the tile retires from Ways to earn.
