Eligibility, expiry & anti-fraud

Order eligibility

Not every order should earn. Charm’s eligibility settings control which orders award points:

  • Minimum order value
  • Excluded discount codes or heavily-discounted orders
  • Excluded products / variants — including membership fee products, which are excluded automatically (see Memberships)
  • Order status / source conditions (e.g. exclude draft or POS where desired)

Eligibility is normalized into a single settings object, so every earn path — order earning, refunds, on-page estimate, checkout preview, and POS — honors the same rules with no per-surface logic.

Points expiry

Points expire by one of:

  • Inactivity (default — 12 months since last activity)
  • Absolute date
  • Per-rule lifetime

Expiry applies retroactively to existing balances, so tightening the policy doesn’t require rebuilding the program. A points-expiry warning email can fire a configurable number of days before expiry.

Anti-fraud

  • Cooldowns prevent double-dipping on review rewards (one per order), referral rewards (one per friend), and sign-up bonuses.
  • Per-customer caps bound monthly redemptions and referral conversions.
  • Manual review holds high-value or above-threshold events for approval before the reward fires.

Refunds & cancellations

When an order is refunded or cancelled, Charm automatically reverses the points it awarded for that order, keeping balances honest.
