Launch (or pause) your loyalty program

Turn your program on to start rewarding customers, or pause it temporarily without deleting any balances or configuration.

Steps

1. Go to Program.
2. Check the Setup summary card — a {ready} / {total} ready count of the core building blocks (earning rules, a reward, app embed) you need before launch.
3. In the Program status card, turn on Enable loyalty program and click Launch program (or Save). To pause later, switch the toggle off — the status flips to Paused and customers stop being rewarded.

Tip

Pausing keeps every balance, rule, and tier intact — it only stops new earning and redeeming, so you can switch the program back to Active at any time with nothing lost. Launching activates points earning on all orders.

Running referrals or memberships without points

The points program is one switch among several: you can run referrals or paid memberships with points switched off entirely. When you do, Charm stops talking about points on the storefront:

• The floating widget drops the balance header, the bonus-campaign banner, and the numeric badge on the launcher; the launcher falls back to your program name. The referral, discount-code, and membership rows stay.
• Earning rules and rewards are withheld from every surface, including already-installed theme blocks, so a staged program can’t leak before launch.
• VIP tiers hide on the landing page and in the Loyalty Hub, along with the tiers FAQ — tiers run on points.
• Points history stays visible to customers who actually have rows in it, so a shop that ran points and later switched them off never makes past balances unreadable.

Caution

A referral rule that pays points on a points-off shop hands customers a currency with nothing to spend it on — there’s no redemption catalogue while points are off. The loyalty advisor flags this as a critical finding and links straight to the fix: switch the referral reward to a discount or a product.
