Launch your program
The Launch page gathers everything that changes for customers on launch day in one place, and says what each switch does before you flip it. Nothing on it happens on its own: every email, tier change and the launch itself waits for your click.
Open the launch page
Section titled “Open the launch page”- Go to Dashboard and find the Setup guide card.
- In the band at its foot, Activate your loyalty program, click Launch program. Once the program is live, the same button reads Open launch page.
If you hid the setup guide, click Show launch center on the dashboard first. The band links to the launch page when points are part of your program. If you set up only memberships or referrals, the band reads Go live instead and opens the Program page.
- Under Where customers see the program, check that Charm is on in your theme and the rewards page is in the customer account menu. If either is missing, use the button or link next to it.
- Under Who finds out, turn the Welcome email for new accounts on or off, and click Send test to see the launch announcement in your inbox.
- If you have VIP tiers set up, review the preview under VIP tiers and gifts and click Turn tiers on when you’re happy with it.
- In the right column, click Launch program.
- To tell the members you already have, click Send to N members under Who finds out. It only appears once the program is live.
Apart from the announcement, which needs a live program, you can do these in any order and come back later. Launching with emails and tiers left off is a quiet start: orders earn points from that moment, and nobody is told until you decide.
Where customers see the program
Section titled “Where customers see the program”- Charm is on in your theme. The theme app embed is on. When it’s off, nothing shows on your storefront yet; Open theme editor takes you to the switch.
- The rewards page is in the customer account menu. When it’s missing, Add to account opens Shopify’s account editor on the Charm rewards page.
- Placements. One chip per placement, such as Widget, Loyalty Hub, Points on product page or Redeem points at the cart. A green chip is live. Click a chip to open that placement’s settings. You only see placements for programs you run: the membership block with paid memberships, the partner page with affiliates on, and the checkout block on Shopify Plus.
See Storefront surfaces for what each placement shows.
Who finds out
Section titled “Who finds out”Two audiences, one row each.
- Welcome email for new accounts turns the Welcome to the program email on or off. It only goes to customers who create an account while it’s on. Existing members don’t get it.
- Launch announcement for existing members is a one-off email that tells the members you already have that the program is live, with their own points balance and the next reward they can reach. The number next to it is how many members it would reach.
If customer emails are off for your store, a banner says so and nothing in this card is sent. Turn on emails switches on the master switch for customer emails, which starts every customer email you have enabled, not only these two.
Send the launch announcement
Section titled “Send the launch announcement”- Click Edit the email text to change the wording. The email is Program launch in the Loyalty program group under Emails, and you edit it like any other template.
- Click Send test, enter an address and click Send. The test uses your store’s primary language.
- Click Send to N members, then Send to confirm.
The send button only appears once a send can go out: the program is live, customer emails are on, and at least one member would receive it. Before you launch, the row reads “The announcement can be sent once the program is live.”
How the announcement is sent
Section titled “How the announcement is sent”- It’s queued, then sent in the background. Sending starts within a few minutes and works through your members in batches. The row shows “Sending: X of Y” while it runs, then the date it was sent. You can leave the page.
- It’s sent once. After it has gone out, it can’t be requested again. Each address gets it at most once.
- It waits when it can’t go out. If you pause the program, turn off customer emails or turn off the Program launch email after queueing it, the announcement is held, not dropped. It continues once everything is back on.
- A failed send can be retried. If a send reached everyone and delivered to nobody, for example because emails couldn’t be sent at all, the row says so and you can send again after a successful test. Anyone who did receive it isn’t sent a second copy.
The announcement goes to members with an email address. It skips customers you’ve excluded from the program and customers whose email marketing status in Shopify is unsubscribed. Because it’s a marketing email, it carries an unsubscribe link. With the join gate on, it also reaches members who haven’t joined yet.
VIP tiers and gifts
Section titled “VIP tiers and gifts”This card appears when you have VIP tiers set up.
Before tiers are on, Charm works out what turning them on would do and shows it as a table:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Tier | Each tier, in rank order. |
| Members | How many members would land in it. |
| Gift codes | How many tier gift codes would be created. Only gifts set to One-time on tier entry count; a claimable gift isn’t created until the member claims it. |
| Value | Roughly what those codes are worth, from the gift’s amount or the product’s current price (its dearest variant). ”≤” means members pick between products, so it’s the most they could be worth. Gifts without a price until the cart exists, such as a collection, a percentage off the order or free shipping, aren’t valued. |
Below the table, a line tells you how many Approaching next tier emails would go out. Those are the only emails Charm sends when tiers are turned on, and only while the program is live, customer emails are on and that email is on. Otherwise the line reads “Charm sends no email when tiers are turned on.” Automations you built yourself, for example a Shopify Flow on a tier change, can still run. If your tiers use a qualification period, order counts, referrals or tags, the preview counts the first 5,000 members and says it’s approximate.
Turn tiers on switches tiers on and starts placing every member in their tier. Progress shows as “Evaluated X of Y”.
- Stop pauses the evaluation. Tiers stay on; the remaining members are placed as they order, or you click Continue evaluation to carry on.
- If a batch fails, the error shows and Continue evaluation retries it.
- When it finishes, you see “Done. Every member has their tier.” and the table shows how many members are in each tier now.
If you leave the page mid-run, come back and click Run evaluation. It starts again from the first member and is safe to repeat: members already in the right tier aren’t touched, and nobody gets a gift twice.
You can turn tiers on before or after launching the program. The line at the bottom shows how long gift codes stay valid, set under Settings → Points program → Reward expiry.
Launch the program
Section titled “Launch the program”The right column holds the launch switch.
- Before launch: “What happens now” says every new order earns points. Launch program switches the points program on. A second card lists what doesn’t happen: no email is sent by launching, customers see nothing while Charm is off in your theme, and tiers stay off until you turn them on.
- After launch: the card shows the date the program went live, and Pause program switches it off again.
Below it, Programs lists each of your programs with an Active or Inactive badge: the points program with its ways to earn and rewards, VIP tiers, referrals, and memberships and affiliate partners when you use them. Click a name to open its settings.
